Financial Planning Standards Board Names Paul Grimes, CFP, as First Chief Professionalism Officer
DENVER, CO – 17 May 2021 – Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. (FPSB), the organization that leads the global financial planning profession and owns the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification program outside the United States, today announced the appointment of Paul Grimes, CFP, as the organization’s first Chief Professionalism Officer. Grimes, based in Ireland, will start his new role effective 1 June.
Grimes will lead the development and positioning of the body of knowledge, professional standards, certification requirements and oversight framework for the global financial planning profession in partnership with the FPSB Professional Standards Committee, the FPSB Network and other stakeholders. He will also drive FPSB’s thought leadership in financial advice professionalism, guide territory-specific application of FPSB’s standards and certification requirements; and oversee the creation of the delivery of FPSB’s education content and certifications internationally.

Grimes will join the organization after serving in numerous FPSB Network leadership positions including FPSB Ireland CEO; chairperson of the FPSB Council; FPSB Europe chairperson; and as a member of the FPSB Network Member Advisory Group and Chief Executive Committee. In addition, he worked with FPSB on standards setting as a member of the Professional Standards Committee, Global Exam Working Group, Integrated Financial Plan Working Group and Financial Advisor Credential Working Group.

Grimes is currently an associate faculty member at the University College of Dublin, and an independent financial planner, consultant, business coach and trainer at Principal Grimes International Business & Training Sols. A dual national (Australia and Ireland), he earned diplomas in financial planning from Deakin University and Ireland University College Dublin and holds the CFP credential.
