Financial Planning Standards Board Names J.D. McCartney Chief Communications Officer
NEW YORK, NY – 11 JUNE 2020 – Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. (FPSB), the organization that leads the global financial planning profession and owns the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification program outside the United States, today announced the appointment of J.D. McCartney as Chief Communications Officer, based in New York City.
McCartney will lead all aspects of global brand and communications, including marketing, public relations, digital/social media and stakeholder engagement. He will work closely with the FPSB global network of organizations administering CFP and other certification programs throughout Africa, the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East, to promote CFP certification and the global financial planning profession worldwide.

J.D. has the right blend of skills and expertise to lead those efforts, and is an excellent addition to our executive leadership team,” said Noel Maye, CEO of FPSB.
McCartney joins the organization after more than eight years with CFA Institute, where he led communications programs and campaigns to promote ethics, education and professional excellence in the global investment management profession.

Prior to his tenure with CFA Institute, McCartney spent 13 years in communications agency roles, including seven years as the CEO and co-founder of award-winning agency Xstatic Public Relations. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Technical Journalism from Colorado State University, and holds the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) credential.
